Several months have passed since the start of the University of Central Asia’s (UCA) academic year, but many students found it difficult to study at home, primarily because of the lack of, or a poor, internet connection.

As a response, UCA asked only first year preparatory and seniors (who will be graduating in 2021) to come back. Due to the pandemic, other students were not asked to come back largely because of accommodation. Although UCA’s dormitories are designed to house two students per unit, currently only one student per unit is permitted. Students still attend classes, but they are attending remotely from their WIFI-enabled rooms.

Several other measures have been taken to limit the risks of students on campus. All students and staff on campus still go through daily temperature checks. They are also required to wear masks when they leave their dorms. Health and Safety teams are always available to monitor the situation, and the campus is regularly disinfected.
