A number of AKDN agencies and programmes are operational in the United States, starting with the Aga Khan Foundation (USA), which was established in 1981. AKDN programmes work in partnership with major academic institutions in the United States, including Harvard, MIT and UCSF. His Highness the Aga Khan has also delivered a number of keynote addresses in the United States.
