Aga Khan, AFD ink Sh700m infectious malady control bid

The Aga Khan Health Services in Tanzania and the French Development Agency signed a €300,000 grant to establish infectious diseases units in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza. The grant, according to a joint statement, is expected to enable the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam to adequately respond to pandemics, such as Covid-19 including addressing issues pertaining to inadequate health infrastructure and capacity.

The Aga Khan Health Services and the French Development Agency ink 780m/ deal for establishing infectious disease units

The Aga Khan Health Services Tanzania (AKHS,T) in partnership with the French Development Agency signed a-€300,000 grant agreement to establish infectious diseases units in the hospitals of Dar es Salaam and Mwanza. Speaking at a signing ceremony in Dar es Salaam, Regional CEO of AKHS in East Africa, Mr Sulaiman Shahabuddin, said the grant would enable AKHS to address challenges pertaining to infectious diseases control management.

MoU signed to improve health facilities in Chitral

On 26 June in Pakistan, the Khyber Health Foundation and the Aga Khan Health Services, Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the improvement of the facilities at the two hospitals in the Chitral district. Regional Minister for Finance and Health, Taimur Salim Jhagra, lauded the public-private partnership in the sector and hoped that would ultimately benefit the people of the Chitral district.

Covid-19: where does testing help?

Many want to know their status and realise that "testing" cannot only slow transmission but also help regain some normality if used to guide "reopening". And yet, there is widespread confusion around what tests are available and their benefits. Just because one can get a test, it does not mean one should invariably go for it.

 

 

Coronavirus self-assessment mobile app launched for Tajikistan

CoronaCheck, a new mobile application that allows users to conduct self-assessments at home while raising awareness of measures to prevent COVID-19, has been launched by the Aga Khan Health Services, Tajikistan and the Aga Khan University. The app will help Tajikistanis easily and safely evaluate symptoms with an in-home screening tool and understand the next steps to looking after themselves. This app can be downloaded free of cost.

AKHS launches Emergency Response Centre for COVID-19 Patients in Garamchashma, Pakistan

The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS,P) today inaugurated a 20-bed health facility in Garamchasma, Lower Chitral, for COVID-19 patients. The “Emergency Response Centre for COVID-19 Patients” will provide care to COVID-19 patients with mild and moderate symptoms. Half of the beds will be allocated to female patients.

Aga Khan Health Services and Aga Khan University have launched CoronaCheck, a new mobile app for android and iPhone that will help Tanzanians easily and safely evaluate symptoms with an in-home screening tool and understand the next steps to looking after themselves. This app can be downloaded free of cost.
