The Pakistan Navy distributed tents and rations to affectees of earthquake-hit areas of AJK (Azad Jammu and Kashmir). Moreover, the Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with the Aga Khan Hospital, established a Free Medical Camp at Jati, Thatta District. The team provided quality medical treatment to more than 1,800 patients from Jati and adjoining areas. Besides providing medical treatment, free medicines were also provided to the patients.

Recently, a digital mammography system, also called full-field digital mammography, in which an X-ray film is replaced by solid-state detectors that convert X-rays into electrical signals similar to those found in digital cameras, has been launched at the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam. According to Regional CEO of AKHS East Africa, Sulaiman Shahabuddin, the Radiology Department at the hospital has pioneered investment in advanced technologies to enhance diagnosis, which plays a key role in modern treatment of patients.
The Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam (AKHS) has installed GE Healthcare’s Senographe Pristina, a more advanced and comfortable mammography system for patients, with next-generation 3-D digital technology for the first time in Tanzania. Senographe Pristina is engineered by Women for Women to help reduce pain, discomfort and anxiety women experience during a mammography. Mr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin, Regional CEO of AKHS East Africa said: "Radiology department at AKHS has been a pioneer in investing in advanced technologies to enhance diagnostics which play a key role in modern day management of patient."
Some 199 women and children with deformities resulting from violence, burns and accidents have received free plastic and reconstructive surgery in a collaborative initiative between the Aga Khan Hospital Dar es Salaam, Muhimbili National Hospital and Reconstructing Women International. The Reconstructive Women and Children Programme, as it was called, was initiated in January 2016 with surgeons from the US, Canada and parts of Europe working closely with Tanzanian medical professionals. Speaking at a press conference in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Dr Atlar Ali, head of surgery at Aga Khan Hospital said reconstructive surgeries have been shown to significantly improve the quality of life for those struggling with stigma and disability.
The Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam is planning for a comprehensive cancer care project in Tanzania that will allow renewed focus on cancer care covering all stages from prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and home care. The project is being jointly funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Aga Khan Foundation. AKDN Representative for Tanzania, Amin Kurji, said: "Through a public private partnership, the project will involve the Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI), Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) and Bugando Medical Centre in Mwanza."
In Dar es Salaam, the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) promised to enhance the cooperation between AKHS and the government of Zanzibar in ensuring better health services in the Isles. The Associate Dean Medical College at the Aga Khan University, Mr Hussein Kidanto said this was the beginning of cooperation between the two parts to ensure that patients from Zanzibar can come and benefit from the services offered and also contribute to reducing maternal and child mortality. Zanzibar’s Minister of Health, Mr Hamad Rashid,: "We thank AKHS staff for their support and I hope that our students will be able to get a chance to come and learn from AKHS so that they can increase their skills and provide better health services to citizens".
