On 23 January 2020, two Aga Khan Preschools in Gujarat received the prestigious Education World Preschool Grand Jury Awards 2019-20 for being among the top ten in the country for ‘Campus Design Excellence’ (Ranavav) and ‘Best teaching-learning resources’ (Botad).

Aga Khan Education Service, India (AKESI), has operated Aga Khan Preschools in India for more than 40 years, impacting over 60,000 young children to date. The Aga Khan Preschools are located in rural and semi urban locations of Gujarat, providing much needed access to quality, affordable, preschool education. The teachers are recruited from the local communities and receive bespoke training to offer the Aga Khan Preschool Programme (Shishu Pahel Padhati) which is based on an internationally validated and researched preschool approach. In addition, a team of over 140 volunteers support the day-to-day non-academic operations of the 19 Aga Khan Preschools and eight Pre-Primary sections of Aga Khan Schools across India.
