Safe Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation projects inaugurated in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral

A safe drinking water supply and sewerage project was recently inaugurated in Rahimabad-Aliabad in Gilgit-Baltistan by His Excellency Wazir Baig, Speaker, Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly, Mr. Michael Sumser, Senior Project Manager, and Mr. Edgert Firmenich from KfW German Development Bank. Supported by the German Government through the Federal Foreign Office, the project was administered by the Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan and executed by the Aga Khan Planning and Building Service, Pakistan (AKPBS,P), both agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). The project was the result of a unique public-private partnership between the AKDN, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GoGB) and the local community of Rahimabad-Aliabad.

Japan assists recovery from natural disaster in Vanj district

A handover ceremony for “The Project for Rehabilitation of Irrigation Channels in Vanj District” was held on June 25. According to Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, the project was funded by the government of Japan through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) for the total amount of US$105,186 in partnership with FOCUS Tajikistan who managed the project implementation in collaboration with the local communities and the authorities.
