Aga Khan University (AKU) graduate Geoffrey Oraja was inspired by the nursing profession from a young age. His mom was a nurse. In 2009, when he learned about AKU’s nursing programme, his life changed. Its 2-day work study programme allowed him to improve his credentials while balancing family, work and studies. George left the module with a certificate. But more importantly, he says, he had gained new knowledge, attitude and skills that enabled him to open a clinic. Today he divides his time between working towards the AKU Bachelor’s Degree in Science of Nursing, taking care of his family and providing the local community with quality health care at his clinic.
