Each Aga Khan Academy benefits from the combined experience of the network of Academies as well as from partnerships with other AKDN agencies and global institutional networks. These linkages enable the development of innovative programming and help ensure world-class standards of excellence.
As part of the Aga Khan Development Network, each Aga Khan Academy is able to access and leverage the experience and connections of both the Academies and AKDN networks. This includes the intellectual and programmatic resources of AKDN institutions such the Aga Khan University, the University of Central Asia, the Aga Khan Education Services, the Aga Khan Foundation and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
Students at the existing Academies are already benefiting from these relationships, for example through participating in service internships with AKDN-affiliated programmes. Both AKDN and the Aga Khan Academies have established partnerships and agreements with reputed educational institutions including the International Baccalaureate; universities, including Harvard, Oxford, Toronto and UCLA; and other education organisations.
The AKDN has established a formal relationship with the International Baccalaureate (IB) through a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations. The aim is for all Aga Khan Academies to be IB World Schools and thus closely linked to the network of IB institutions in over 125 countries. Connections with global institutions and networks enable the Academies to test and validate their standards of excellence, and allow for enhanced collaborative programming. These partnerships contribute to the quality of the curriculum and professional development programmes, and ensure that the Academies maintain and enhance their academic quality.
