Rehana's story

8 March 2016 - Building on its experience in other countries, in 2010 the Aga Khan Foundation and Aga Khan Rural Support Programme began forming self-help and savings groups in rural Bihar to help marginalised women. This enables women to save and access credit for new livelihoods activities and family emergencies. These groups form the basis for women to adopt new income-generating activities and improve their quality of life. The more women come together, the more they can earn and save, the more economic benefits they bring to their families and the more voice and respect they have in their community.
