Aga Khan Health Services
The Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of three agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) that support activities in health. The others are the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the Aga Khan University (AKU). Together, the three agencies provide quality healthcare to five million people annually and work closely on planning, training and resource development. AKHS also works with the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) and the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) on the integration of health issues into specific projects.

$83 million
In Tanzania, the expansion of AKDN’s East Africa Integrated Health System includes an investment of $83 million, to establish a network of 35 outreach health centres and an expansion of the Aga Khan Hospital.

The AKDN operates more than 200 health centres and hospitals, of which 14 are ISO-certified and/or JCI-accredited, in recognition of meeting international quality standards in health delivery and hospital care.

The 6 bridges constructed by AKDN over the Pyanj River connect mountainous, isolated communities living along the Afghan-Tajik frontier, allowing thousands of Afghans to access cross-border health services.
