Evidence of the health sector’s significant contribution to carbon emissions is relatively new. Thus far, most of the data has been generated from wealthier countries and dependent upon the engagement of specialist sustainability consultants. At a webinar, Fawzia Rasheed, Senior Advisor to the Director of the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS), describes initiatives within AKHS where regular staff members are being trained to examine and respond to their carbon footprint. Interim results and emerging opportunities towards their net-zero ambitions are covered. The benefits of hands-on engagement by health professionals and their potential leadership on this agenda will be reflected upon, too. Fawzia Rasheed's video can be watched here.
