Pluralism in action: Students celebrate one another on United Nations Day

The year 2020 marked the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and its founding Charter. In acknowledgement of the United Nations, the Nursery and Primary sections of the Aga Khan School in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania held a special event in October 2020, where the importance of multiculturalism, acceptance and friendship were celebrated.

In a statement delivered at the virtually held 2020 Afghanistan Conference by AKDN’s Diplomatic Representative to Afghanistan Sheherazade Hirji, His Highness the Aga Khan, on behalf of the Ismaili Imamat and the Aga Khan Development Network, today reaffirmed his enduring commitment to a peaceful and pluralistic Afghanistan.

Aga Khan School students raise awareness on Covid-19 with short videos

Although they continue to study remotely, students from the Aga Khan School (AKS) in Osh thought of ways to help mitigate the spread and impact of Covid-19 amongst other students and in the broader community. One way to mitigate the spread was short videos. With support from their parents, many of them produced original, short information videos using various mobile applications.

A virtual lesson to prepare students for natural disasters

The Diamond Jubilee High School in Mumbai recently conducted a ShakeOut drill to improve the level of preparedness during an earthquake among the staff and students. Students were briefed about the ShakeOut drill during class assemblies, along with the reasons for the various positions emphasized during the drill, by the Task Force, which consists of forty students well-trained in Disaster Management. The entire school, from the Principal to the support staff were, involved in the drill. ShakeOut drills were conducted across all Aga Khan Development Network institutions on the same day.
