Aga Khan screening tool makes Covid-19 detection easier

Tanzanians can now easily and safely evaluate Covid-19 symptoms with an in-home screening tool, thanks to a new initiative by the Aga Khan Health Services and the Aga Khan University. The two organisations have launched a new mobile app for android and iPhone that allows people to evaluate Covid-19 symptoms with an in-home screening tool - and, thus, help them to understand the next steps in looking after their well-being. Simply named CoronaCheck, the app can be downloaded free of cost.

28-bed isolation centre opens in Upper Chitral

In Chitral, Pakistan, a 28-bed isolation centre for coronavirus patients was inaugurated at the Aga Khan Girls Hostel in the Booni area on 20 April. Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Minorities Wazirzada said that Aga Khan Health Services Pakistan (AKHS,P) was playing a crucial role in containing the coronavirus outbreak and treating the infected patients in the remote areas of Chitral district. He added that AKHS,P was supporting the government to protect and treat people against the viral disease.

Aga Khan Health Services launches Emergency Response Centre for COVID-19 in Booni, Chitral

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, AKHS inaugurated a new 28-bed Emergency Response Centre for COVID-19 Patients in Booni, Upper Chitral yesterday. Staff working at the Centre have been equipped with essential equipment and supplies, including medicines and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); 32 healthcare staff, including 8 doctors and 20 nurses will dedicate their time to the facility. Additionally, the Centre will be equipped with three ventilators for critically ill patients.

Isolation ward handed over to Drosh hospital

On 8 May in Chitral, an isolation ward set up by Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Drosh, was handed over to the Health Department. The ward comprises 10 rooms beds, blankets, surgical masks, gloves, sanitizers, with proper electrification and water supply for washrooms. District Health Officer, Dr Haiderul Mulk, appreciated the services of AKHS in the health sector noting that AKHS hd also rendered similar services in Garam Chashma, Boni and Mastuj areas.

 

 

JS Bank, Mahvash & Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation and partners donate Rs. 10 Million to Aga Khan Health Services

In its effort to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and build capacity in the national healthcare system, JS Bank and its partners, on 27 April, donated Rs. 10 Million to the Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan. Basir Shamsie, President and CEO of JS Bank Limited, noted that the Aga Khan Health Services, Pakistan had been at the forefront of this effort across Pakistan and thanked the entire medical fraternity for their efforts and sacrifices on behalf of the people of Pakistan.
